Il est des chiffres dont la juxtaposition suffit à provoquer un certain malaise. Richard Houston, qui dirigeait jusqu’en juin dernier les activités britanniques de Deloitte, a perçu 7,1 millions de livres sterling (environ 8,2 millions d’euros) au cours de l’exercice achevé en mai 2026. Une augmentation de 45 % par rapport à l’année précédente, révélée ce lundi par le Financial Times. Dans le même temps, le géant de l’audit et du conseil a supprimé quelque 1.000 emplois au Royaume-Uni.

La rémunération du dirigeant comprend 5,8 millions de livres de participation aux bénéfices et une prime exceptionnelle de 1,3 million, liée à des objectifs stratégiques et financiers. Depuis juin, Richard Houston a été promu à la tête d’une nouvelle structure supervisant les activités du groupe dans 80 pays.

Sa rémunération fait désormais de lui le dirigeant britannique le mieux payé parmi les quatre grands cabinets mondiaux d’audit et de conseil, devant notamment son homologue de PwC, Marco Amitrano, qui a perçu 4,8 millions de livres.
